Nowhere Hair by Sue Glader

Posted on: November 17th, 2010 by Erin Kieper

Sue Glader has written a beautiful children’s book with a serious topic. As the title implies, the story is about a mom losing her hair because of her chemotherapy treatment. The story is whimsical and lovely through the eyes of a child and should be shared with anyone who is going through this journey. Please watch Sue’s video to hear her story.YouTube Preview Image

Mesothelioma resource site

Posted on: November 9th, 2010 by Erin Kieper

I must admit I have little knowledge of mesothelioma other than it is caused by asbestos exposure. I was introduced to this website and found it to be informative and provides many resources for people affected by mesothelioma. Check it out and share it with those who need this important information.

Breast Cancer Awareness month is over, or is it?

Posted on: November 9th, 2010 by Erin Kieper

The month of pink has come to a close, the ribbons, bracelets, mammogram reminders and news stories have ended, so now what?… For those who are touched by breast cancer, or any other cancer for that matter, every month is “insert your cancer here” awareness month. The disease doesn’t go away, the needs of the patients, families and friends are still present as we move into the holiday season. I guess my question is, how do we keep the momentum going and work together to help those needing support through their journey.

In a broader sense, this journey can encompass more than just health care struggles. Those who have lost their jobs, their homes, their self esteem through this economic downturn feel many of the same burdens those facing illnesses do. Where is their ribbon and the month dedicated to their struggles?

I will leave you with this quote today.

“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong.  Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.”  ~George Washington Carver
